Our Mission |
| Cancer Foundation of China
(abbreviated as “the Foundation” hereinafter) was
founded on October 26, 1984. It is a national
foundation, an unprofitable social body and an
independent legal corporation aggregate. The first
chairman was taken by Prof. Wu Huanxing, who is the
distinguishing expert of the radiotherapeutic oncology
and the founder of the cause of cancer prevention and
treatment in China. The second chairman was Prof. Chen
Minzhang, the late Chinese minister of health. The third
chairman was Prof. Li Bing, another founder of the cause
of cancer prevention and treatment in
China. |
The goal of the
Foundation is: by means of raising the fund home and
abroad, to push forward the development of the cause of
the cancer research, prevention and treatment in
China.
In August of 2002, the
Foundation had its 4th plenary session of the
executive council and nominated unanimously Dr. He Luli,
the vice chairman of the standing committee of the
Chinese People’s Congress and the chairman of the
Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomindang, as
the Chairman of the Foundation and Dr. Peng Yu, the
former Chinese vice minister of health, as the director
of the executive council (the legal representative) of
the Foundation.

| What We Do |

| In order to perform
the scheduled work of the Foundation, there are setups
of the subordinate organs i.e. the “Administration
Commission for the Funds Development”, the
“Projects-Appraising Commission”, and the “Working
Commission of Organization”. The scope of business of
the Foundation covers various aspects of the cancer
research, prevention and treatment, including
communications, public activities, awarding, education
and training, prevention and control, fundamental
research, application and exploitation, clinical
research, as well as rehabilitation and analgesia. The
Foundation will conduct the activities mainly by means
of selecting and fulfilling the projects. At the moment,
the Foundation would pay more attention on the
prevention and control of cancer in China, especially in
the rural areas with the high incidence of cancer. |
The work of the
Foundation relies on the support by the various
societies, so it is solemnly stated by Foundation that
all the donation will be greatly treasured, well
managed, and used in the most needed places and good
achievements must be made to reciprocate the societies.
There is the “Board of Supervisors” in the Foundation,
which serves to monitor and supervise the financial
behaviors of the Foundation. Meanwhile, the financial
situation of the Foundation will be announced in an
appropriate way so as to be supervised by the public. It
is our hope that all the societies will continue your
support to the work of the Foundation and all the people
and organizations that are generous and ardent for the
charity will cooperate with us in one way or another, to
develop jointly the new prospects of the cancer
prevention and control in China.
